New findings in medical research

Researchers have found that more young people today are being hospitalized from having strokes than older Americans. Doctors are now urging young people to receive regular check-ups from their doctors, especially males under the age of 35.

Researchers suspect that obesity, diabetes, recreational drugs (such as marijuana) and high blood pressure may be catalysts to this up-and-coming epidemic. In a study, researchers found that among males aged 15-34, strokes have increased 53% since 1994. Among females in the same age group, strokes have increased 17%.

Studies also show that men between the ages of 35 and 44 had a 47% increase in strokes and females those ages had a 36% increase. Fortunately for older Americans 65 and over, stroke incidents have gone down alot since 2007. Trends of this epidemic haven’t been determined for sure yet but speculation lies within the unhealthy eating habits of young Americans.
